ARCABUZ is manufactured using the agricole method using freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. Yeast is added to sugar cane juice, fermented for about a week, and then distilled.
Normal rum is made from the molasses produced during the sugar manufacturing process, but we chose the agricole manufacturing method because it allows us to easily express the aroma and taste of sugar cane, or in other words, the terroir of Tanegashima and the quality of the ingredients.

■Commitment to product manufacturing
 ① Sugarcane varieties
The raw material, sugarcane, is grown in ''Norin No. 22'', centered on ''Kurokaido'', a variety native to Tanegashima that has a rapid rise in sucrose concentration. ''Kurokaido'' is harvested in smaller quantities than other sugar canes, but it has a good taste, and the squeezed juice has a taste reminiscent of melon. After comparing the juices of several varieties, We arrived at these two varieties.

② Squeeze the juice within 24 hours, use only the first juice
Harvested sugarcane is squeezed within 24 hours before the stored sucrose is reduced, and the juice immediately goes to the fermentation process. This is possible because sugar cane fields and a distillery are just a stone's throw away. Normally, the juice is squeezed three times, but in order to achieve a clear taste, only the first juice with a high sugar content is used.

③ Bottled as is without adding water or blending
Typically, spirits are made by blending or adding water to multiple lots to equalize the alcohol content and taste of the product. On the other hand, ARCABUZ does not blend or add water, instead bottling only the lots that they think are delicious to drink. Therefore, for example, the alcohol content of ARCABUZ White Rum (Rhum Blanc) varies depending on the lot. We create products that have a craft feel and value the unique characteristics of sugarcane, an agricultural product.

④ Environmentally friendly circular production
Sugarcane residue and the liquid produced during distillation are used in sugarcane cultivation as fertilizer and soil conditioners. This circular production is possible because we handle everything from cultivation to manufacturing.

■Background of the brand name
ARCABUZ means matchlock gun in Portuguese. Tanegashima is an island with deep ties to events that marked the beginning of a new era, where matchlock guns were introduced, and where the practical satellite launch base and Tanegashima Space Center are located. The name was chosen in hopes of ushering in a prosperous new era in which Tanegashima will be known around the world for its rum.
